Work has begun on the construction of Statesville Fire Station Four, but Monday's groundbreaking ceremonies make it official. In a year, Statesville will have its fourth fire station.
Dozens of firefighters, city officials and associates attended the ceremony at the construction site on 115 Martin Lane. It has been 35 years since Statesville built a new fire station. This one will cost $2.07 million and should be opened this time next year. It will employ 15 firefighters.
